OUTSIDE PLANT FIBER TECHNICIAN 

GWI Vermont is hiring Outside Plant Fiber Technician(s). Responsibilities include: 

• Making connections for subscribers from pole to house. 
• Mounting network interface device on the premises. 
• Splicing into the active system and into test point to house to record light level.
• Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining fiber network. 
• Climbing utilities poles and setting ladders. 
• Responding to emergency outages outside of normal working hours, covering on-call  and other work required before/after normal scheduled hours. 
• Communicating well between crews and staff. 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required: 

• Two (2) years’ experience with splicing fiber and OSP construction. 
• Valid driver’s license with no recent license suspensions. 
• High school diploma, GED or industrial school certification. 
• Good written and verbal communications skills. 
• Must pass a background check. 
• Must be able to read and understand color designed maps and splice charts. • Must be able to lift 75 lbs. 
• Must be able to climb 50’. 
• Must be able to see colors without limitation.
