ValleyNet Press Release – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ValleyNet Announces Leadership Change
2/4/19 – Royalton, VT
ValleyNet announced today that it has chosen a successor to Carole Monroe, who announced her intention to retire in late 2018. “It has been my pleasure to bring ECFiber from the startup stage with several hundred customers to where we are today with over 3,000.” Carole will continue to assist ValleyNet in a consulting role.
David Rottmayer has over 30 years of telecom experience (including fiber-to-the-home startups) and will start work in February. “I’m very excited to help ValleyNet and ECFiber expand the availability of fiber to-the-home service in the region.”
Since 2008, ValleyNet, a Vermont non-profit organization, has been assisting the East Central Vermont Telecommunications District (“ECFiber”, www.ecfiber.net) in financing, building and operating its fiber to-the-home network in 24 Vermont municipalities. ECFiber now has nearly 700 miles of optical fiber network and over 3,200 customers. By 2020 ECFiber expects to have invested approximately $48M to cover all unserved neighborhoods in its member towns, maintain 1,400 miles of fiber-to-the-home network, and serve nearly 7,000 customers. ValleyNet and its 20 employees in Royalton operate the system under contract to ECFiber. ValleyNet has begun to assist other groups in the Upper Valley to achieve universal broadband coverage in their towns, starting with Lyme, NH.
