Vermont
Burlington Telecom
Burlington Telecom is financed using the same mechanisms that will be used in the ECFiberNet project.
Westford/Jericho/Underhill
This is the first rural project in Vermont undertaken using the community-owned, subscriber-funded model. The project is about a year ahead of ECFiberNet.
You can see the website created by the Westford broadband committee when they were reviewing various broadband options. They have since joined with Jericho and Underhill, got the approval of the voters in those three towns, and are in the process of getting a network build underway.
Around the Country
UtopiaNet
UtopiaNet is a Utah-based project. A number of cities have formed a project similar to ECFiberNet - it uses an "inter-local" agreement to create an entity to contract the design, build, and administration of the project.
It differs from ECFiberNet in a number of ways - services are provided largely by the dominant carriers. Financing is through municipal bond.
Lafayette Utilities System
Lafayette (Lousiana) Utilities System is a municipal utility that is creating a fiber-to-the-home network financed by municipal bonds.
